海軍関係者がガーディアン紙に伝えたところによると、「クイーン・エリザベスの海洋試験中にシャフトシールの問題が明らかになった。ポーツマスに停泊している間に問題は除去される」という。
31億ポンド（約41億ドル）を投じて建造された空母クイーン・エリザベスは、２０１７年６月２６日に初めて海に出た。

２０１８年にはクイーン・エリザベスで艦船ヘリコプターのテストが行われる予定。
その後クイーン・エリザベスは米国の東海岸へ移動し、そこで短距離離陸・垂直着陸機F-35Bのテストが行われる。
クイーン・エリザベスの排水量は６万５０００トン、全長は２８２．９メートル、船幅は７５メートルで、４０機の航空機を搭載できる。
