グアテマラ大統領府は、「フエゴ火山の噴火によってチマリテナンゴ、エスムイントラ、サカテペケスの3州で貴重な人命が失われたことを悼み」全土に3日間の国喪を宣言した。
発表によればフエゴ火山の噴火で3千人以上が避難を余儀なくされた。最新の情報では噴火による死者数は25人、およそ300人が負傷している。
