同日、同じくカタロニア州のカンブリス市でもトラックが歩行者に突っ込もうとする未遂事件が起きたものの、トラックは転倒。これにより民間人５人が負傷した。
警官との撃ち合いで４人のテロリストが殲滅され、１人が重傷を負った。
こうした中でモスクワにあるスペイン大使館前には、テロの悲劇に負けない連帯の意を表すロシア市民からの献花が集まっている。大使館ではスペインおよびEUの半旗が掲げられた。
