ツイッターには、目撃者が撮影した動画が投稿された。動画には、ラスベガスのカントリーミュージック音楽祭の聴衆を狙った銃撃事件が始まった瞬間が収められている。
事件が起こったのはラスベガスの「マンダレイ・ベイ・カジノ」周辺。男がホテル「マンダレイ・ベイ・ホテル」のバルコニーから隣で行われていたカントリーミュージック音楽祭の聴衆を狙ったとみられている。
警察は、発砲した男を制圧したと発表した。現場周辺は立ち入り禁止となり、ラスベガスのマッカラン国際空港も一時的に閉鎖されている。
