中国２隻目の空母で、初の国産空母となった「００１Ａ型」は、２０１３年に建造が始まり、２０１７年４月に進水した。全長は３１５メートル、幅は７５メートル、排水量は７万トン、最大速度は３１ノット。中国のマスコミによると、Ｊ-１５艦上戦闘機３６機を搭載できるという。
