斧とナイフで武装した男が米紙ニューヨーク・タイムズ（NYT）の編集部訪問を試みた。男はNYT政治部の記者らと話がしたかったという。AP通信が報じた。
武装した男との交渉はマンハッタンにあるNYT編集部のラウンジで行われた。男は入構を拒否されると、斧を取り出し、治安当局の到着を待ったという。
