23日のフランス大統領選第1回投票まで1週間。前例のない大混戦から抜け出す候補がないまま、極右、超党派、極左系、保守系の4人が支持率19~23%の範囲でデッドヒート、上位2人による5月7日の決選投票への進出を争う展開になっている。共同通信が報じた。

3月から4月初めのテレビ討論会で存在感を示し、世論調査で支持率を急上昇させた極左系選挙連合のジャンリュック・メランション候補(65)が「台風の目」となっている。

選挙戦は「欧州連合(EU)離脱」「反移民」を掲げる極右、国民戦線(FN)のマリーヌ・ルペン党首(48)と、「左右対立の克服」を唱え超党派市民運動「前進」を率いるエマニュエル・マクロン前経済相(39)の首位争いが続き、妻らの秘書給与を巡る横領事件で捜査を受けた中道・右派のフランソワ・フィヨン元首相(63)は苦戦を強いられていた。

「反米親ロ」派のメランション氏が示した公約は「EUだけでなく北大西洋条約機構(NATO)からも離脱」「大統領権限を縮小する新憲法制定」などFNよりもさらに過激。一方で「非合法移民の滞在許可」「難民施設の拡充」などはFNとは正反対だ。

各陣営が「極右の躍進阻止」を唱える中、最も舌鋒鋭くルペン氏を批判し注目を浴び、マクロン、フィヨン両氏についても「現行のシステム(体制)を擁護し代表する政治家たちだ」とこき下ろした。

4候補が横一線に並び「何でもあり」(リベラシオン紙)となった情勢から、ルペン、メランション両氏の決選というEUにとって「最悪のシナリオ」まで浮上。不人気から再選出馬を断念した社会党のオランド大統領が13日「(大統領選の現状は)望ましくない」と発言すると、さらにメランション氏を勢いづかせる結果となった。
